Fusion

Fusion is the process through which complete symbiosis is achieved between a biological organism and a substance. The process requires conditions that exist only within Numinous.

The concentration of anti-entropic energy inside the capsule prevents the organism from dying or degrading during the procedure. The process continues until the DNA discovers a path of mutation that allows symbiotic coexistence with the substance.

To ensure that the procedure succeeds as quickly and effectively as possible, extensive psychological profiling is conducted beforehand, and the substance itself is preconfigured accordingly.

Fusion cannot be performed on Sentients or Ferals, because their DNA has already been damaged and altered. Anti-entropic energy is capable of freezing an organism in its current state and preventing degradation, but it cannot reverse existing damage. Most biological organisms are only capable to receive one substance but in rare cases double or even triple fusions are possible.

Another observed tendency is that every successful Sentry candidate has previously demonstrated an unusual ability to endure trauma that should have psychologically broken them. Whether this trait is essential for the process itself, or whether the Mind simply favors such individuals, remains unknown.
